Tea Light

My final version of an entry for the Canon Photo5 Competition.

An accidental breakage of our little teapot gave this fascinating and symbolic object to work with. By using a textured base and putting the tealight under the remains of the teapot I have created this moody and evocative image. I shot a 20 second (not 1) exposure using a tripod and cable release. To get the smokey effect I spilt wax onto a black piece of plastic and photographed it, then lightly layered it over the image in Photoshop.
